SURFING
" The most consistent, quality surfing conditions in England are found in the
South West".
The Stormrider Guide to Europe.
Certain beaches, around Devon and Cornwall in particular, are a Mecca for surfers worldwide. National and International championships are held in locations such as Watergate Bay and Fistral Beach in Cornwall and are a highlight of the annual surfing calendar. Throughout the summer there are surfing events that attract not only professional surfers, but a host of like minded spectators with plenty of partying too.
The best way to master the basics is to invest in surf lessons available through multi-activity centres and surf schools. These are not very expensive and include the hire of a board and wetsuit. Group and student discounts are available making this a popular choice for Stag and Hen parties.
